I have been trying to figure out CMI on and off for about 8 months. I run a SMP, that I aim to have around 20-25 players. It's a simple survival server with claims, optional pvp, shopping district, and some perks.
I honestly.. don't know if CMI is tailored to servers like mine. There's over 300 commands. So many modules.. aliases, overrides, features...
I'm genuinely getting lost and honestly overwhelmed.
Is essentials really the better option for smaller servers?
Need an honest opinion on if I should continue with CMI or just go back to the basics for idiots.
Thanks!

Essentialsx is free and open source while CMI is paid and close source, in the spirit of Minecraft Open Source Community, Essentialsx is a no brainer choice.

Not your original question, but why don’t you try not using any of those?
What features of essentials do you actually use or need? There are a lot of plugins that implement the same features of essentials, but do it better in almost every way
