Great golden digger waspOP
Soo i want to disable elytras in the overworld and limit it in the nether because in my opinion it kinda discourages community interaction and ruins the exploration part. But there are some people against it with their main argument being how slow traversal can be. Should I disable it and force players to use other methods of traversal?
The server is fabric and has create mod installed with its trains system, and the SMP server is a small one.

IMO, no.
Trains are cool, yes, but if you just need to travel a certain amount of distance where walking is too much and taking trains is too inconvenient, what do you do?

It sounds like a sure way to ensure you continuously lose players
And doing this discourages exploring. What if the player wants to check out a new part of the world that doesn’t have the train system? Do they walk there?

you can work with SO MANY alternative travel methods it's insane
hell, you can even give saddles and horse armor attribute bonuses for things like speed

I considered making stuff faster
The trains mentioned above for example
+ i noticed that tectonic tends to make big rivers that stretch across multiple biomes
So the player can use boats

Seriously, who’s getting to their stables, taking a horse out, riding 500 blocks through terrain, arriving at a random place, and digging a hole for it?
Boats are cool, but if you want them to be viable (for non water based travels), ice paths are needed. So why that when create train tracks are easier to build?
Happy ghasts? Right, but op is running create on fabric, meaning they don’t have access to these (create fabric only goes up to 1.20.1 last time I checked)

What you are describing is like a scenario where someone thinks cars are cooler than planes, so they outlaw air travel entirely
Also remember all of these can coexist. Being able to fly around with an elytra doesn’t mean nobody would build ice boat tracks if the destination is far.
The only way I can think of to “force” people to use the alternatives might be to nerf the durability of elytras (or speed up durability drain)

Also since op mentioned large rivers, horses? Really?
My point is that you have to cater to all sorts of personalities. If there are train enthusiasts, they might take trains over elytra, but other members who are not into trains all that much might use alternative travel methods that make sense to them.
