I switched from paper to fabric and use most optimization mods that include: Lithium, Krypton, ScalableLux, C2ME, Ferritecore
however the performance is still laughable in comparison to paper especially when loading another dimension. Any ideas on how to fix this? or are there other performance mods that could help

I dont think comparing Fabric to Paper in terms of chunk loading speed is fair. Paper will always win and you are probably just too used to how fast SpottedLeaf's chunk system is.
Do you have a video showing how "slow" it is? As people have different standards and I am curious on how slow it is on your current Fabric server.

of course, and I get that. I wanted to switch because of technical/redstone reasons. It's just now that the server hardware doesnt seem to be good enough anymore, even though 4,5gb ram should be fine? is it really just a hardware reason or what? I'm just looking for answers

i usually play with 24 chunks render distance but as you can see in the nether it takes ages to load and even then its like 5x5 chunks
