i'm running a simple and small paper server, its basically all default settings, on version 1.21.10. and i have gotten 3 happy ghasts but each one of them have despawned/disappeared for what seems to be no reason at all. the last one that disappeared was in flat open terrain and leashed to a fence but it just disappeared when i logged in. and i'm sure none of the other players have killed it cause the logs show all of them were logged out at the time. what would cause this to happen ?

Happened to me too, tho the ghasts were not leashed.
Get into spectator and look around the chunks where they were last seen. I found mine around 1k blocks away from the spot I left them at
