By now Microsoft should know that cracked launchers (by nature, distributing pirated copies of Minecraft) are taking a decent amount of potential sales away,

Wouldn’t a cease and desist letter on all relevant jurisdictions deter most launchers from continuing their service?

also someone can correct me but I believe the actual game jars/resources are coming from mojang/microsoft servers directly

IMO it would likely be more expensive to file a blanket of C&Ds that would end up costing them more money in legal fees than revenue in sales

Also, at a certain point Minecraft being played more is beneficial even if its on a cracked launcher. It is effectively free publicity.
OFC if it's too easy to pirate they'd lose too many sales, but a lot of pirates were never going to buy the game otherwise. Pirating the game makes them talk about it online and encourages others to possibly actually buy it.
In other words: they probably benefit from it, if they don't care
