I have created a server for my friends tojoin but when they try to connect they get the getsockopt error. I can join both with local host and the ip that I have a portforward so they could join. We've tried updating their java to 25 so its the same as mine, given permission for java to go through the firewall (public and private connections) and they still can't join. Does anyone have an idea of how we could fix this issue? Thanks!
1) Are you sure it's port forwarded correctly? You can type your server ip into https://mcstatus.io to see if others can access it
2) Did it work on an older version?

Its shows as offline on that site even when I'm on it. Im guessing thats the issue. Do you know how I could fix it? (btw this is what my portforward looks like, idk if its the problem cause ive had it for another server and it worked fine that time, the ip is the same on both internal and external host)

I don’t see the need for tcpdump

To see ip:
if you are running linux: use ip r
if you are on windows, use ipconfig

To check if local port is open:
have another pc on the network connect to server. If it works, it’s opened locally

To check if port is open to the internet:
use something like mcsrvstat.us

don't have an external host, it's limiting it to just that address

Also remember to lock your machine into static ip by reconfiguring the dhcp range on your router and manually choosing an ip within the static range on your hosting device

have you noted that op most likely uses windows btw
he mentioned private/public firewalls, not really a thing for common linux OSes

I just kinda assumed the server also runs on windows with the given context, but yeah @Crested Auklet what is the server OS?
Crested AukletOP
I am hosting it on my personal computer that run on windows 10 pro

Barbary Lion
allow on the windows firewall and your router?
Crested AukletOP
