howdy. I have a self hosted poweredge 1950 gen 2, it has 16gb of ddr2, dual xenon e5430 @ 2.66hz (not that dual matters). My network upload speed is 50mb/s. I was just wondering roughly how many players I would be able to have online at one time, on a basic paper server.

im not even joking, I run a small friends server on a 2667 v3 (about 3x your single thread perf), and we start dropping below 20tps with about 6-7 players.

I also have the advantage of significantly faster ram (ddr4 ecc) and nvme storage, so the estimation is 2 for you
honestly, you could try it, grab like 4 friends and hop on
then run a profiler
