Connection timed out: getsockopt

For some reason, when I get this issue, I can connect to an alternative IP of my server. Not sure if that will help, but try it!

Getsocketopt is your client not finding a mc server on the ip:port

How do you find an alternate IP?

For me, I have 3 different IPs I can connect to:
- play.---.org - my custom domain
- 123.45.67.89 - the numerical IP
- ---.---hosting.net - provided by the hosting provider

That said, this error occurs whenever it can't find a server on that IP or that port so you may just have the wrong details.

Really? I’ve got 2 friends with that problem, but 10 others that can join the server completely fine… so confusing. What should I look at server side?

this is probably the most common problem i’ve seen asked about, I highly recommend googling or looking on reddit

Have, seems like most of the solutions are on the PC/player side. That would make sense on my part since most people can join no problem but trying to see if there’s anything I can do as the server
