# Context:
I've been running a fairly heavily modded fabric server using crafty controller. (max of 7-8 players)

I've had a lot of issues with the panel crashing when doing simple things like managing backups even with nearly zero server load. I also don't like how little management tools it has.

The server lags under terrain gen already even with c2me. (terralith+tectonic+various structure mods)

# Setup:
Proxmox running on a ryzen 7 3700x + 32gb ram. ~11 threads + 20gb ram available
playitgg + crafty running on a debian vm.

# Needs
-Ability to add users to the console.
-Lightweight panel
-Backup options built in (there aren't any good fabric mods that allow backing up to custom directories)
-Server directory file system editor (like crafty's)
-Ability to upload files from the webpage
-Ability to limit the perms of users
-Schedules for backups (+optionally custom console commands)

# Notes
-I won't be running more than one server so the option to run different games isn't useful
-I don't mind paying less than ~20 dollars

I know this is a lot of requirements, but any input would be helpful, thanks!

I’ve heard about pterodactyl but I was kinda looking for a comparison between panels so I don’t end up in the same mess as I did with crafty
Philippine Crocodile
ptero is prettty much industry standard for pretty much 95% of actual hosts
Tibetan SpanielOP
Ah
What about amp?
Philippine Crocodile
don't
single worst experience with panels I've ever had

😭
For ptero should I be running the host and nodes in seperate vms?
Tibetan SpanielOP
Ah sick
Well that answers my question
Thanks!
Philippine Crocodile
and yeah, your panel should be up regardless of the actual server state
so always separate that whenever possible

Is there any reason this is using an lxc and not a vm for the server?
Philippine Crocodile
why waste resources on a vm
Tibetan SpanielOP
Isolation
Philippine Crocodile
servers already run on docker
lxc is good enough
you're running 2 levels of isolation already
Tibetan SpanielOP
docker within the lxc?
Philippine Crocodile
yea
