Does anyone know an active Island or cell plugin where data is stored in MySQL instead of a world file?
Polish
For which version of Minecraft?

Latest.
What I'm curious about is the world size of skyblock servers. There must be a way or something that stores away the data of inactive players to prevent the world files to grow infinitely

In older versions, something like SlimeWorldManager has been used, there's alternatives floating around for more modern versions from my understanding
I can't speak for its stability or reliability, as I've not used it, so if others have, I'd take their input over mine, but there appears to be a custom fork of paper/pufferfish/purpur which adds a similar system for 1.21.7 (with an open PR to make 1.21.8 stable): AdvancedSlimePaper https://infernalsuite.com/docs/asp

You think it would be safer to save and load schem files when player joins and leaves the server? In that way the items would be saved
Or if its even possible
What im trying to make is item storage for my players

@Polish The setup i have right now is where players buy a "house" in a void world. The chests at the house are linked up to Playervaultsx to make it look like real storage. The same house can be purchased by infinite amount of players due to this. When people are inside the house region, they are invisible to everyone else.
Polish
What issues are you facing with that setup?

Problem i see is that i did the house shop that basically sells permissions based on the house in Skript
It's something small. Nothing big. The main part is hiding people and using Playervaultx for the storage
Polish
So it's not one base house for everyone now, people can modify them?
Transvaal lionOP
That's the thing. People cant visit others or modify their house at all. It's totally locked up with the preset that we defined
There is not a house per player like a skyblock island. I was very afraid to go this route due to world file size

If they can't modify the house, what's the impact of this? Sorry if I'm not following

Right now there is nothing since it's permissions in LuckPerms and Playervaultx both stored in mysql.

It's just a nice thing if i could make it more personal where people can place example playerheads in their house and invite other online players over
If that makes sense
I wonder what it it would take if I should make it possible for the players to modify parts of the house

If your end goal is only to allow fixed customisation, e.g. fixed heads changing skins, etc. and not to allow housing changes, I'd check to see if what you want can be done with Audiences (e.g. skinning x head only for y people who are in z's "house" (i.e. visible to each other)), but if you want to make things more customisable, a house per person is probably the way
If it's fixed upgrade paths, one template per "upgrade" could be possible too?
Transvaal lionOP
A house or multiple houses per player is probably the way. But what about inactive players long term?
The pros of my current setup is that permissions and storage data is both stored in mysql.

Then you'd use what I linked above to only load stuff for those who are online, when offline, it'd go to a database
you can write that yourself with schematics, or use something which already does most of the hard work
