if this question is too low level (dumb) for this server please let me know and i’ll go elsewhere. not sure what help i’m allowed to ask for here. There are two things that I need assistance with.

1. how do i set up squaremap to work with my subdomain? i bought one from ionos last night for my locally hosted server and got the server joinable with the subdomain successfully, but i’m not sure how to now use this domain for the server’s map. i am not trying to move the map to an externally hosted website, just make the internal web map viewable with the new subdomain, which i believe is possible. sorry if i use the wrong terminology.

2. why can’t my friend see it? i believe that port 8080 is available and i have port forwarded it on my router, but he still is unable to visit the squaremap website for the server. i have had him try http ://private_ip:8080/ and http ://public_ip:8080/ but he still can’t load the site.

Somewhere in your network is not config correctly if you can see it with local IP
The viewer is essentially just a webserver hosted on the machine so you can follow through most online self host guide to double check your config.
Additionally, you can look into hosting it via CloudFlare tunnel. They have really good guide on their official docs and you wouldn’t need to worry about portforward and all that bs.
