How would I go about disabling chest usage in adventure mode?

I have a separate dimension set up where people are automatically put into adventure mode, but because of how minecraft works they can still access chests. How would I go about disabling this?

Server software? For spigot you can get world guard, set a world region, and disable chest-access
Vanilla -> I don't think it's easy, if not impossible
Other server software -> I have no idea

But you're probably right, some kind of world protection is the best shot
