I'm still somewhat new to this, but my playerbase is filled with alot of annoying people. I'm not sure if I should just ban them or what.
Basically I don't allow griefing on my server, and people on my server don't like that. So they griefed around this one base and I caught them so I banned them, now there talking about making a new server and most of the people are saying there leaving (I only have around 20 people total on my server rn). Not quite sure what to do.

I went the whitelist route and don't accept people with low effort applications
Quality over quantity
Consider it self promo and ban them on discord too

yeah depends on the vibes you're going for imo. i'm also whitelist and 18+. but i'm also not a p2w server or trying to make money off of it, so i can afford to be more selective. might not work if you're selling crates and ranks or smth
You should disallow griefing if your player-base consists of (before teenage) kids or adults, if they're mostly teenage you shouldn't disallow it
Also having a low amount of players gives them too much power, if you're gonna be giving them power you should make sure that they won't create problems

Well since they already stated they want to create their own server, if you don't ban them they will be able to invite the others to a separate discord

ideally you have coreprotect or a similar tool to undo griefing

I just like to have backups and just rollback whenever something gets griefed but I also had to permanently ban someone from my server for causing too much chaos, he made me rollback the entire server, twice

Enforce rules and remove bad actors
Griefers have the worst profit margins anyways

If your server is no grief, and they want to grief, they are fundamentally incompatible with your community. Best thing you can do is remove them. The faster the less drama.
The longer you wait, the higher potential for them to make friends in your community and the drama will be bigger and bigger the longer you wait to enforce the rule.

Tbh, the last thing you would want is players bossing you around.

If you run your server well people will notice, and having no-grief rules is something I think a fair amount of people enjoy, so I think you'll be able to find new quality players even if these leave
it's definitely not worth compromising on the values/way you want to run your server, otherwise people will know they can push and prod whenever they want something changed - best of luck with whatever you choose though
