Hi there, i've been spending some months developing a server and i am wondering what ram amount would be sufficient when expecting a maximum of 60-80 players. My server is on paper 1.21.5, 59 plugins, and i have followed various optimization guides.

I was planning on getting one of premium plans, but i'm not sure what ram amount is sufficient enough.

I know the metrics i gave doesn't make it easy to calculate how much ram a server will use of course, but i would like to see what members of this community recommend.

start with 4gb, should be enough for most cases. if you see issues with often gc, increase like 1-2gb at the time until issues stop
cpu will be your bottleneck, not ram

4gb? I doubt that would work- and if it does, it would be a very tight fit. I'd recommend 8-12gb if you want to have a smoother launch and scaling down if you don't think you'll need that much.

Maybe- but without knowing the number of players expected on launch, I would personally aim for the higher range for ram in order to not have as many hardware related difficulties (aiming to not reduce player sentiment)

8GB should always be the starting point
4GB is a bad option for any server that isn’t a vanilla server with 3 friends. This is because the Minecraft server itself will already be using about 50% of your RAM amount OR MORE, leaving with you with around 2GB of RAM
Depending on what you’ve done optimization wise, 4GB could work. If you have the option, 6GB is probably an even fit as it’s in the middle of both options.
But I’d personally recommend 8-12GB of RAM.

But generally, I think first impressions are important for new developing servers since it's hard enough as it is to improve and retain playerbases at this point. So, aiming for a smoother launch should be pretty important

I ended up going with the lagless 12gb plan :)
