Trying to self-host a server for the first time, and having connection issues. Server launches without a problem, but my friends can't connect to it, and I can only connect to it myself through the enable-query IP of 0.0.0.0:portnumber. Using the public IP times out the connection, and not even localhost works for me specifically, it gives a getsockopt error.
I went through my firewall and made sure that public networks are allowed for java, I've made sure that the router I'm using has the designated port open and should be discoverable, and I'm at a loss for what else to troubleshoot. Does anyone more experienced know what I could be missing? Thanks.

have you tried to use localhost instead of 0.0.0.0:portnumber
or 127.0.0.1:portnumber
or 127.0.0.1:portnumber
if port number = 25565 disregard the additons of :portnumber
@Tamz have you tried to use localhost instead of 0.0.0.0:portnumber
or 127.0.0.1:portnumber
or 127.0.0.1:portnumber
Sun bearOP
localhost gives me the getsockopt error, I can only currently enter it through the 0.0.0.0 one
Can you send client and server logs?

can you try a different port for the server, its inside server.properties to change
then restart the server and use localhost to join

Sun bearOP
should I be changing the server-port or the query-port?
Sun bearOP
good to know, I'll avoid messing with the query stuff then
@Tamz then restart the server and use localhost to join
Sun bearOP
worked like a charm
