So, I am using AlienHost to host a proxy server w/ velocity as the proxy. Current MC version has to be 1.20.1 for the mod to be able to work properly. I am having issues with which (LightCity or LightFall) to use to enable some sort of forwarding to be able to interconnect the severs together. Obelouix (on Reddit) suggested Advanced Portals for a plugin to be able to switch between servers. The modded server will have The Abyss The Other Side.

Pretty much. I stayed up all night and was able to get the proxy working

You could use the built in /server command. things like NPC's triggering the player to run it will also work.
