For those who don't know what CGNAT is count yourself lucky. To the others not able easily self host what are your work arounds. my friends are straight up tech illiterate and refuse to use any thing that they have to install separately.I was using Playit.gg but Im out of tunnels for free. I have a domain that I have stuff going through cloud flare for and it works great for non TCP stuff. Is there a good solution to get around CGnat or do I just need to pay playit.gg for more tunnels. (also before anyone mentions oracle I tried and they wont even let me pay for service. I forget why last time I tried was last year but I want this for more anyways.)

I found modflared. Has anyone used that? I am fine with a little extra configuring before I send out the pack. What I am not OK with is dealing with every person asking for IT help on setting up the connection.

modflared was one of the options that worked, but frp with a public facing reverse proxy is how i run my server, works great. modflared is a good low effort solution if everyone is playing a modpack though, since its just another mod

looked into FRP I dont think they will be super down with that. so I will start with modflared . I can keep the vanilla server on playit with the plug in

Yes I am running a modded and vanilla sever as well as hosting the panel and simple voice chat mod. We were going to add another modded server for a different group of friends.

Have you considered running a small Velocity instance? You’d have the tunnel open only to the Velocity instance, and it’d proxy the traffic to your backend servers

I remember there being a reason I didnt use beforehand but I do not remember why. looking at this it looks like it can do some other stuff I wanted like having an accesible creative world by using multiple instances. Do you know if it uses the same player data between them?

Use tailscale it will give ipv4
But you need to use their vpn

why would your players not be down with using frp? they dont need to install anything.

You should use a network external small VPS with a wireguard container on it.
WAN -> VPS -> Tunnel -> LAN -> Tunnel Endpoint -> DMZ Host -> servers
This is really the ‘correct’ way to handle CGNAT bypass. Cloudflared will also work but generally be a bit careful of it.

I believe these solutions (Tailscale, Cloudflared) wouldn’t be ideal for OP as he explicitly states his friends do not want to install separate software. Aeon has shown the flow of arguably the best solution but not the cheapest.
