I suddenly got a random tps drop for about 1 second and stabilize again immediately.
I managed to capture it in spark:

The flamegraph shows this, is this something from my server or my service provider?
There's nothing in the logs btw, just "moved wrongly"

server save happened and decent gc lag happened as it was happening seems to be the combo

A bit weird tho, it happened yesterday (I and failed to record it) and today happened twice

ive heard of some people having issues with jdks above 21 but not sure if that was just 22
dont remember what that whole thing applied to tbh but possibly worth looking into
not sure how many issues have to do with it know for sure there were some windows issues but i swear there was something else too, might be misremembering though
you could also see if your server jar is fucking something up somehow
Scott's OrioleOP
I can try changing to 21 when I restart
Could also be the server jar since I made it myself and I could’ve messed up somewhere, although I’m sure I haven’t touched anything related to saving, still will try using plain paper to be sure
Weird part is that last week it didn’t happened at all, or at least happened while I wasn’t online to notice it
Wait, now that I think about it, Paper just happened to make a change in their data saving last week, tho it should've been made async, not sure why it could've been stopping the main thread: https://github.com/PaperMC/Paper/commit/6c3964d2f56ee1f91c1edda5b690f632b6f6800c

its possible stuff also just isnt fully fleshed out considering paper still hasnt fully done everything for 1.21.5
but its also def possible that commit broke something

I'll ask in paper discord in the meantime if someone else has experienced this
I've migrated the server back to Paper to see if it keeps happening

An update on this, looking at the profile again, apparently I didn't actually managed to capture the lagspike in there sadly.
So it probably is something completely different
I'll keep this open if I managed to actually catch it this time

i mean there definitely was a lag spike in there
just gc alone took like 8 seconds
Scott's OrioleOP
The thing is that only 1 tick made it past the only ticks above 50 flag, and according to the flame graph the saving part was only 24ms

Look, I think I finally managed to catch it, tho this time it almost crashed the server, I added more (heavy) plugins since last time

I think it is noise on the machine, but could I be causing myself that noise? I don't think my SP is at fault, tho I must say around the time, the panel started to slow down while loading files, but could be my internet as well
The software should be using at least 4 additional threads compared to paper by default, and the machine I think only has two

Ik mc runs on at least 4 threads, but it has been running smoothly so far, except for that sudden (and random) lagspike that appears once every 4-5 days
