what are like.. essential roles you have to fill to kick start any kind of minecraft server (especially an minigame server).
I know development and configuration is important since that's what you need to actually make any kind of server. Yet I hear about all those roles like Administrator and Technicians and Support and stuff.
so I guess my question is..
# if you were to start a server using only hiring people, what are the base roles you need to start and maintain a small server?

I've been staff from a medium community some years ago, you should grow with your community. Build a solid core, if you need custom plugin take a dev but otherwise just 1-2 builder 1 staff to supplement you and scale that's my opinion but take it with a bit of salt

@Sun bear Interesting..
I'm a dev and I have no problem coding most of my custom plugins to really distance myself from the competition. But I was wondering only if that's really what I need to start.. I know I need a builder and some lobby schematics but was wondering how much more do I need to think about

As a dev i think you can fill the admin, tech and support part

unlimited power

dev master race 😎
there only the build that's hard to fill
again imo

we devs are really the core part of all of this huh

I'd like to make as little mistakes as possible when setting up my server and plugins to be scalable
Sun bear
you should define your plan then, how much player, budget, expected growth etc
Giant pandaOP
but I never made a large scale server at all so I know I'll do alot of mistakes.. bound to happen
Bluetick Coonhound
Just start small then

I think a matchmaking api would be great to integrate with all my minigames.
This however will force me to code all my minigames myself to work with said api

I’m running a fabric server, and I’m the only guy handling the technical details, management, and just about everything else. Occasionally someone from the community will volunteer to do things like building a spawn
Giant pandaOP
I guess I don't know anything about how others out there do it

that sounds chill. do you think a network is needed when it comes to minigame servers?
Sun bear

Well you’d need a proxy to switch players around, multiple backends, etc.
