i want to try self hosting mostly just for fun, we run around 7-8 players at a time on peak hours and are currently using pebblehost 12gb budget plan. I want to know what sort of budget i should be expecting and what price points would be realistic, i already have spare 48gb of ram i could use

To be honest. Youd be better off getting a decent build off facebook marketplace and or ebay with a decent cpu then adding your ram in there

buy a used workstation, add in your ram (and/or optionally sell the orig ram), and you have a great home server
you can spend anywhere from like 50$ to 200$

the demand that your server going to be seeing is not very high, so you can get away with a not expensive chip.

ig im overestimating the power of low tier 6th gen intel chips
most likely, intels are good but not that much 😅
