Hi all, I've been trying to google this for some guide but I'm not sure I'm looking in the right places. I'm interested in setting up a server for friends and family (less than 10 people total and probably never concurrently that much) but I'm not sure where to start.

The situation is that the kiddos and their friends all play primarily on switch and xbox, but some of them have PCs as well, so this means bedrock edition. I'd like to be able to set this up and host it on my desktop and share connection instructions with very select people, if that's possible or feasible. I'd prefer not to rent out a server if I could just host it myself, but I wouldn't rule that out.

So yeah I'm just looking for some guidance or a place to start figuring out how to set up a private server that friends and family can connect to and play together whenever they're in. Just like one world that's always available to log into and play in, I just can't really find anything on my own. Thanks!
@Tamz I think setting up a Geyser server (Java + Bedrock) would be more benefical and eaiser to be said.
What are you current specs for the home pc so we have a idea of what itll be like, along with your uplink speeds (not too important but above 50 mbps is good)

the desktop is pretty good, built it last year, AMD 7800x3d, 32gb ram (could do another 32 if needed, wouldn't mind filling the dimms tbh), 4070 ti super, internet is typically 2.3 gbps down 1.6 gbps up
the god build

yeah that's why I'm saying I could just host it myself lol
yeah you are :Okayge: to host
lets see where I can get some decent guides for you.
Are you fine with terminal / cmd based servers or prefer having some sorta panel?

I live in an area with competition for ISPs so I get extremely fast connection for a reasonable price
awesome stuff!
My place is only 500/500 :SadgePlant:
also thank you god gamer
sounds good

Cmd is good, panels are a hassle if you are only hosting one server
Agreed, was just asking it to be sure

I've dabbled a bit in ubuntu and steam os, but nothing crazy

Would probably run fabric in this situation, with the friends and family members

I've also done some basic networking once upon a time as part of some army IT training but nothing too extensive
I suppose you want something that doesnt touch the vanilla experience (paper changing some bugs and etc)
