How much RAM should I allocate for my modded minecraft server after server optimizations (pre-gen, etc.)?

Maximum 7 to 8 players playing concurrently (usually 5 players on concurrently 90% of the time) playing fabric/forge modpacks.

My last server had 8gb RAM and it rarely reached it while playing BMC3 with 7-8 players in the server at the same time. I was thinking of downgrading my server hosting service to allocate 6GB to save on costs.
@Anthony It depends on countless things. RAM wise, 12-16GB will probably suit you well. I’d recommend using a host that has a later generation CPU such as the 9950X. With that you could probably get away with 8GB if you do the correct optimizations.

@Anthony do you think i can just get away with 6 gb? I had 8gb of ram allocated last time and rarely reached the max limit even when there was 7-8 players on while playing medium sized modpacks (200-250 mods)

Also, in this case, would you say that the cpu would be more important? The previous server ran with a 7900 cpu

7900 is good.

6GB can work but I would not recommend it from what I am hearing.

200-250 mods really doesn't mean anything it depends on every single mod thats why you can't really say how much ram you'll need as there are just way to many factors to even properly guess... so you're best bet is just to try and see
