Lost post so please bare with me here. I used to play modded mc thru e4mc/worldhost with friends who lived relatively close by me we live in the same state in the US. Although now I recently moved to SEA region for work and had wanted to play with my friends in the states again although we have a harder time connecting with each other now due to the ping issues, would me hosting a server thru my computer here in the sea region fix or atleast make some of the ping issues go away (such as constant disconnections). What can i do to make the distance work. Thank you i hope my post explains alot and i thank you for taking the time to help me out here!

Normal ping issues will stay no matter what but it seems like the ping is just particularly bad on your current host
Frequent disconnects shouldn't be happening
You could selfhost but selfhosting has the problem of being generally unreliable
So either switching how you are hosting or what company you host through could resolve it but ping is an unaliable fact of life
Death, taxes, and latency

I understand, thank you i just need a way that my friends wont disconnect and be unable to join back, since recently theyve been unable to join the shared world we have via e4mc so im willing to learn self hosting via other means

its possible that whatever tunnel is being used is messing things up somehow and directly port forwarding could be more helpful

Ahh ill give that a shot thanks a lot
i tend to pick a location that ideally sits in the middle between you and your friends
So both locations would have the same (ish) ping, if you self host, you’d get a few ms of latency, while your friends would have to get double of what they’d have when the server is in the middle
And if the above doesn’t make sense

Got it thanks alot these are all good info thank you so much
So renting a server would definitely be a better move for the time?
Most of the time, yeah
But if you happen to end up with some shitty host with high packet losses and random janky ahh networking then it may not be better
Admincraft have some verified hosts (that are proven to be decent) in #service-providers , you can default your pick to be one of them if you aren’t sure
And please for the love of god do not go with apex/bisect just because they are “well known”
I think* most of them would give you a free test server for a day or two for you to try their services out if you just ask
