Getting playit.gg to stop connection timed out

Hello. I got a Ubuntu 24 forge modded Minecraft server working and was able to connect with it locally & was able to connect using my laptop running off a hotspot of my phone. Basically I think it is possible using the playit.gg domain to connect to the server but when my friend tries to join on his PC he gets "Connect Timed out". It used to just say connection refused but we got past that. I've lowered the view distance to test if less info form the server would stop the timeout but no luck. Anyone dealt with this?

Playit.gg was set up using the Minecraft Java profile, but I changed the local address of the tunnel to that of the server. Should I have left it default?

I'm not familiar with playit.gg so I can't help with this. However, I will say that you should try to ping yout server from online (https://mcsrvstat.us/). If you can ping the server, it's his computer; if you can't ping the server, something is wrong either with your firewall or playit.gg or both

Thanks! I was able to ping it so it's a problem on his end. That narrows it down a least

It does say when I go into the debugging menu it says
"Query- Failed to find socket". Is that a potential issue or is that not necessary for connection
