Getting many conflicting answers via google/reddit, etc. Prior to today, I had been hosting minecraft servers on an old pc (i5 4570, HDD, 8 gb of ram, on windows 10). I had previously used paper, and had decent results with some stuttering issues when multiple people are exploring at once (elytra). However, hooking up a screen, keeping the large case plugged in somewhere, etc. has been a bit of a hastle.

I have been looking into a number of potential options including OVH, Oracle (cannot even get access to the VM instance), and other server hosting options. Was wanting some recommendations. I would love for an extremely smooth performance. The server and all players would be based in US central. The option I am leaning towards is OVH, however, I get conflicting reviews on VPS's as well as I am not completely familiar of the performance of these servers (single thread) and how it performs based on the player count I require. Let me know, thanks so much.
@Kromfohrländer If you want a VPS, I recommend OVH or Hetzner however they won't be the best for Minecraft hosting. If you want a proper mc hosting experience you can grab a recent ish gaming Ryzen CPU on Hetzner's dedicated server auction

Alright, for sure, at a glance it seemed like Prism seemed like a decent choice, If I were looking for a more permanent solution, I would probably go a build like you suggest, however, it will probably not last that long. But thank you I missed that tab.
