Before doing any of that, switch to Java 17. Modded Minecraft throws random mystery errors when using higher versions, and you are doing exactly that. Eliminate the noise before trying to find the signal.

my flags are just aikar's max memory and min memory higher than necessary, and them being equal
theres also an unmodified unix args from forge 1.20.1

Also for learning's sake, there's a line in the log near the top (line 14) that says Compatibility mode set to 17. There's another line above that (line 2) which says java 21. That's how I knew.
