IDK if you know this but there are pay to play featured servers over on bedrock, how do y'all see this.

As in you pay to unlock a gamemode. It's like paying for a video game after you bought minecraft đź’€

I personally would never
cuz why waste money
Little yellow ant
not a big fan of them
it'd have to be a really good game for me to pay
i.e. not bedrock slop

Subjective IMO, depends on the quality of the product you’re paying for
If it’s a re-done gamemode that any other server has, there’s no reason to pay for it. But some insanely-designed story mode with custom graphics/resource pack? I might pay for that!

imagine wynncraft
if it was p2play
so quality is kinda the biggest contributor to what you'd pay for
interesting 🤔
yeah cuz ppl like noxcrew or whatever make these story mode games like terra swoop force etc and sell them as maps
java doesn't have DRM capabilities for maps
so...
Little yellow ant
well wynncraft isnt my favorite type of game so i wouldn't
but similar quality i'd consider it

if it’s highly reproducible with little to no effort, there’s no reason to pay. But if the end product required a lot of time to create and provides a worthwhile entertainment experience (reasonably priced of course), then by all means charge for it as any other online entertainment does

dont see why this would be a problem. Devs put work into these gamemodes, and ofc if they want to be paid for it its better to have an entrance fee rather than infinite lootcrate fees

if its bedrock slop, great! no one is buying it. if its wynncraft, great! its worth buying and people will like it

Honestly I have no issues with this. Pay to play or subscription games I find are far more ethical than P2W or gambling which is what most MC servers default to.
I'd always rather pay $40 to enter and have a good experience that respects my time versus a FOMO fueled dumpster fire that I can get into for free.

Isn't this against Minecraft's EULA? (Other than the featured servers who bribe mojang)
Ruddy Ground-Dove
Oh probably.
But then again so should unregulated child gambling be against the EULA.
I question how much Mojang really cares.

charging for entry is allowed if its the same for everyone iirc
Bichon Frisé
Yeah, there's no advantages or unfair extras given to other players, from what it sounds like
Just kind of like when you go to the fair and pay to get in
If you want to go ride the carnival rides, then you have to pay for a wrist bracelet
If you want to go play that specific game mode, you have to pay to play it
Makes sense to me, and also is a great way to make income, imo
That's kind of why maps being sold on the marketplace is a thing, lol

Connecticut Warbler
Yup, same price of entry its allowed
