I've followed the tutorial posted on their blog [here](https://blogs.oracle.com/developers/post/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-really-powerful-free-minecraft-server-in-the-cloud). The problem is that I cannot connect to the server at all. If I try pinging from my local machine, the request times out. If I try the
command telnet ip 25565, the connection fails. What am I doing wrong? The ports are open both in the VCN and the linux, as the guide said.@Sporting Lucas Terrier I've followed the tutorial posted on their blog [here](https://blogs.oracle.com/developers/post/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-really-powerful-free-minecraft-server-in-the-cloud). I heavily recommend using docker to deal with mc servers on oci, as it takes the IPtables routing out of your hands in a nice way
OCI is very picky about how you set stuff up for no reason
You can either use firewall-cmd, or use ufw
Oh wait you probably made it using oracle linux
Consider deleting that instance and making an Ubuntu one
I should really make a guide lmao

Kromfohrländer
Yeah, what firewall software did u use?
Firewlld? Ufw?
Sporting Lucas TerrierOP
ufw, did the iptable thing as well
then disabled ufw, still didn't work
@Sporting Lucas Terrier ufw, did the iptable thing as well
Kromfohrländer
Yeah preferably don't touch it 💀
Ufw is disabled bu default
Download firewalld, it's been the easiest to use on oci Ubuntu

and just open 25565 on TCP and UDP in firewalld ?

Sporting Lucas TerrierOP
looks like the issue was me trying to join with a fabric client (only client side mods) and my server was set up with paper
