Hi, talking about advertising Minecraft servers, what would be the best strategy to advertise one? Some questions I have include:

- Which platform out of these perform the best?

1. Minecraft Server Lists

2. Social Media:
a. Threads (Facebook's Twitter) and Twitter/X itself
b. Instagram
c. Facebook (Facebook Groups, I'm in 18 of these ad groups)
d. Rednote (It's something that's been trending recently if you haven't heard of it yet).
e. Reddit (I've seen just 4 of these ad communities)

3. Streaming Services
a. Kick
b. Twitch
c. Youtube Live

4. Google Ads

5. Xbox Social

6. Discord Servers that allow Advertising (I've heard of 5 of these and I'm not mentioning names unless you want me to, same for those facebook groups and reddit communities).

7. Video Sharing platforms
a. Youtube
b. DailyMotion
c. Vimeo

- What specific methods were used to target certain demographics?

- What were your experiences with endorsement, paid ads and organic word of mouth like social media?

I honestly forgot about asking Quora but I think they also do a good job of saying things over there too I guess with posts like (I just remembered and searched it up):
1) https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-get-more-players-on-my-Minecraft-server/answer/Tiernan-Baker-1
2) https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-best-ways-to-advertise-a-Minecraft-server

But yeah, I think I want to hear your thoughts too if you have any about your experiences and what you did. What your answers are for my initial question.

I do have a current plan that I want to follow in the future too though, with messages targeted towards:

- North America
- Europe (Focusing on Nederlands, Belgium and France)
- Australia and New Zealand
- Asia (I didn't.. really think about what exactly Asia the entire continent means.. I guess I was just thinking mostly.. of China and India)

(oh by the way while writing this I just remembered to just google the statistics.. seems like United Kingdom (United Kingdom is used to describe the political unit consisting of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales), Brazil and Germany are also really important which I didn't realize.. here is what I read: https://www.enterpriseappstoday.com/stats/minecraft-statistics.html)

North America:
Each week the peak gaming hours are are typically late afternoon to evening (4 PM to 10 PM)

January: New Year's Week because players are still on holiday break and have free time. I guess it's time for New Year promotions and events at the server store.
Mid to Late January is when winter weather keeps people indoors for some areas. The ads should be talking about coziness I think.

February: Valentines day is on February along with President's day which is 17th of February? Free battle pass to make people work for valentines day cosmetics?

March - April: Spring Break (varies by state, usually mid-March to early April) which might be a good time for ads for group activities like tournaments?
Easter weekend is on the 20th of April which is another time for an ad related to that.

May: Memorial day (May 26th), around that time.. summer is going to start, so another ad focusing on that along with.. another store sale? There is even something called a dragon boat festival on the 31st of May, so maybe that can be a Minecraft event.

June: Pride month, also Summer break starts at 21st June so there's a high availability of students, so something like a month long event can be done.
Asiatic LionOP
July: Summer Vacation, a continuation of whatever started in the beginning.. whether it be major updates, events or sales. Independence Day (4th July) is also a good day for something like an event related to that.

August: After that 12 week Summer vacation some students will start Back-to-school prep.. so some farewell-to-summer events, store sales? Along with simple easy to complete events with smaller rewards to encourage people to come back for a few minutes each day.

September: Easy to access content that people can complete while doing their daily routines. 1st Monday of September is labor day (Saturday, Sunday and Monday is a long weekend), so an event can be held those days?

October: Halloween Season is great for cosmetics, themed events.

November: 27th November is Thanksgiving, 28th is Black Friday. Obviously time for sales, but from Black Friday lasting to Cyber Monday imo is better. Time for discounted cosmetics/anything else from previous years.

December: Cyber Monday is 1st December. Having 4 days between 28th November to 1st December might be either overkill or just right. 25th is Christmas so.. perhaps sales and events can last from 25th to New Year instead of doing things the entire month cause that would be tiring.

Another important thing would probably be timing ads with Minecraft updates or other important global events just like that whole Rednote debacle.

Europe (Nederlands, France, Belgium)

Each weekend would be peak gaming hours, with Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons being the best times.
5PM to 10 PM local European times.

January: In the first week, people will probably still be on holiday break because of new year's break. While mid january is when people will start going to work/school, so smaller events that can be easily completed are probably welcome.

February: Valentines Day is there again, for events and cosmetics. Winter Break (varies, mid-February in France) perhaps promotions could display server activities.
Asiatic LionOP
March: Spring starts around here, it actually brings unpredictable weather such as rain, so players might spend more time indoors playing Minecraft. Another community event I guess? March is when a bunch of European carnivals start. I was initially only thinking of Mardi Gras but there's alot of others as seen here:

1. Venice Carnival, Italy - February 22 to March 4, 2025
2. Nice Carnival, France - February 15 to March 1, 2025
3. Cologne Carnival, Germany - Weiberfastnacht (Women's Carnival Day): February 27, 2025, Rose Monday Parade (Rosenmontag): March 3, 2025
4. Tenerife Carnival, Spain - January 31 to March 9, 2025
5. Sitges Carnival, Spain - February 25 to March 5, 2025
6. Cádiz Carnival, Spain - February 20 to March 2, 2025
7. Carnival of Binche, Belgium - Sunday, March 2 to Tuesday, March 4, 2025
8. Basler Fasnacht (Carnival of Basel), Switzerland - Monday, March 10 to Wednesday, March 12, 2025

April: Easter is celebrated for around 2 weeks (varies according to country) so that's another time to sell cosmetics or do an event.

May: May Day/International Workers’ Day (1st) is a public holiday , some places might skip friday, making it a long holiday that's four days long. (Thursday to Sunday). Ascension day (29th May, Thursday) Schools are closed during this day so maybe

June: End of School year starting from 7th June and Summer break starts. Summer-time content.
Option 1: Youtube shorts and Tiktok.

Option 2: Pay a fuckload of money, easily tens of thousands of dollars per month, to all of the top server list websites to be artificially put on top.

Option 3: Time machine back to 2013 when advertising was fair and you could just post on Planet Minecraft, Minecraft Forums, or Reddit.

That's seriously it, and I'm not being cynical.

July: Summer Holidays continue, also on 14th July there's Bastille Day for France. Beach and Festival Season also begins with different festivals like:
Tomorrowland, held in Boom, Belgium (July 18–20 and July 25–27, 2025)
Sziget Festival held on the island of Óbuda in Budapest, Hungary (August 6–11, 2025)
Exit Festival: held in Novi Sad, Serbia (July 10–13 July 2025)
Primavera Sound: held in Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain (June 5–7, 2025)
Roskilde Festival: held in Roskilde, Denmark (June 29–July 6, 2025)
Glastonbury Festival: A festival held in Somerset, England (June 25–29, 2025)
Rock Werchter: A festival held in Werchter, Belgium (Thursday 3 July to Sunday 6 July 2025)
Vienna Danube Island Festival: held on the waterfront of the Blue Danube, Vienna, Austria (Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 22)

To use these festivals for minecraft perhaps ticket giveaways could be done?.. In exchange for doing something in-game. And also cosmetics I guess related to these events.

August: Summer Holidays continue however, there are pride events in both Nederlands and Belgium. Antwerp Pride held in Antwerp, Belgium (August 6–10, 2025) and Pride Amsterdam held in Amsterdam, Nederlands (July 26–August 3, 2025) I suppose pride-themed ingame items could be sold (banners, mythicmobs/itemadder decorations) along with an ingame event. People will start adjusting to new routines around 31st because the holiday is ending.

September: Back-to-School
- Belgium: September 1, 2025
- France: Monday, September 2, 2025.
European Heritage Days (mid-September, varies by country,
- France: September 20–21, 2025,
- Germany: September 14, 2025,
- Austria: September 28, 2025)
Something like a landmark building contest perhaps would be welcome during these times. It might have to be small because it will take place during school days.
Yeah, marketing for servers in 2025 is extremely difficult.
Short form social media is basically the only real option.

October: Halloween Season, Bran Castle could be a build (either via build battle or making staff build a replica), costume parties could be an event along with horror tours.
Derry, Northern Ireland: October 26–31, 2025.
London, England: October 28–31, 2025.
Prague, Czech Republic: October 25–31, 2025.
Transylvania, Romania: events focused on the weekend of October 31, 2025.
United Kingdom: Autumn Half-Term Break is October 21, 2024 – October 25, 2024.
Nederlands: October 18 – October 26, 2025 is autumn break.

November: All Saints’ Day (1st, public holiday in Belgium and France) Autumn Break (late October to early November, varies)
France: Autumn holidays overlap with All Saint's Day with both being October 20, 2025 – November 3, 2025.
Belgium: Autumn Holidays (Toussaint): October 28, 2024 – November 3, 2024.
World Kindness Day is November 13th.
St. Martin’s Day (Martinstag) – November 11, 2025
United Kingdom: Bonfire Night, November 5, 2025

December: Winter Holidays (entire month) Christmas (25th) and New Year’s Eve (31st). Always a good time for sales and events.

Australia and New Zealand

January: Summer Holidays are the entire month of January, with Australia Day being a long weekend from Saturday 24th to Monday 26th January. So it's good for an event.

February: New Zealand: Most schools begin on February 3rd, 2025. Australia: Generally schools start between January 29th–February 5th, 2025. That means easier to do daily events.

March: Autumn Transition (1st March) Waitangi Day (6th February in New Zealand)
The Treaty of Waitangi is considered the founding document of New Zealand. Perhaps a server event to raise Maori cultural awareness or a charity livestream.
Labour Day for Western Australia: Monday, 3rd March 2025
I can't offer examples because I specifically tailor my algorithms to omit that content, because I don't care for it. But that doesn't mean I don't know what works.

The idea is to make high energy, grabby content that is rapidly digestible. Show your server name and IP, give a reason it's worth looking at, like an event, some sort of action, a milestone, or a cool accomplishment, and then give a call to action about trying it out.

Stuff like "I built the world's biggest item sorter on <servername>!!!!!!!!!" or "<servername> is having it's <holiday> event and it is CRAZY!!!" Shit like that.
You'll wanna make ample use of in game footage recorded with Replay Mod.
Use existing Minecraft creators' filmmaking styles as inspiration. And remember, the purpose of advertisements is NOT to stay true to your server's vibe. It's to get people to it.

So if you're a small cozy, social server, that's cool, but being like "look at our friend group having a cozy time together talking about black holes and dark energy while slightly tipsy on Friday night" isn't grabby. It's kinda mid when today's viewers have an attention span of 6 seconds.

Get people TO your server first, THEN show them the culture.
Going from doomscrolling tiktok to putting your phone down, sitting at your computer, opening Minecraft, typing in the server IP, and connecting is a LOT of steps. You have to give them a reason to want to, and excitement and intrigue works best for that.
Also, plan on putting out new shorts multiple times per day. The more people see your server's name with interesting, grabby content, the more they'll consider checking it out.

Oh fair. I mean, there are literally hundreds. The market is mega saturated. But most of your typical lootbox pay 2 win lifesteal/factions/smp/flavor of the month servers start with social media pressure, either from the exact method above, or via a youtuber who is the/an owner in the server.
