I'm switching linux distros, and was wondering if there was one that handled servers better than others, I'm switching from an old build of Ubuntu desktop. Should I just stay on Ubuntu?

i’ve just used Ubuntu server CLI for my servers and it works fine. IIRC pebble uses Rocky for their host
i think staying with a distro yk is best

thanks man, im new to linux, so i dont have a preferred but ill prolly just update ubuntu or switch to ubuntu server
There are best distros for methods to run minecraft servers, but generally the server itself isn't so much the issue.

Flatcar is very good for container software, Ubuntu is good for containers and also screens, Talos is excellent for containers but it's Kube, Debian is good if you need stability at all costs, etc.
If you want the most fundamental and good basic Linux experience possible? Ubuntu Server 24.04.

I'll probably switch to ubuntu server

Good move for someone new to Linux.
Are you wanting to learn Linux admin and MC is just the entrypoint or is this purely a run servers operation?
@Barbary Lion I'll probably switch to ubuntu server
I believe Ubuntu server's swappiness value is set to 20 by default. You'll want to set that to 0 for a server.

Otherwise, great choice. I use it myself on unmanaged hosts.

Ubuntu is a good starter OS to learn with, make sure you check out some other tastes. NixOS, Debian, Talos, RHEL, Flatcar, Gentoo, Arch, and a couple other ones.
For containers and tiny envs you have Wolfi and Alpine being wonderful.
