I was playing on a server with my friend using the essential mod. We were like 5 hours into the session when my Cat jumped on my pc pressing the power button causing it to turn off. When I booted it up again thru curseforge, 2 mods updated and when i tried hosting or even just playing I kept getting an error saying Invalid player data and missing resource pack.

Essential mod is serverless, and thus not really in scope for admincraft. You'll probably want to seek support from the Essentials creators.

Invalid player data and missing resource pack.
If you were hosting, you probably ended up with corrupted data that didn't save fully. You will likely have to locate the files for the world you were both playing on, make a backup (just in case), and then delete your player data file in hopes that it will let you load.
I don't use Essential. That's why I said you will probably want to seek support from the devs.

ah bet thank you tho

if you go to your saves folder and then your world folder, there's a playerdata folder. Make a backup of this folder and replace the .dat with the .dat_old file
^
Philippine Crocodile
the .dat_old file shouldn't be corrupted
Northeast Congo LionOP
let me try that fr
basically delete .dat
rename .dat_old to .dat
simple to simpler :EZY:
Philippine Crocodile
just obviously keep a copy of the unmodified playerdata folder just in case

if you can open it with NBT readers then its usually "Uncorrupted"
Philippine Crocodile
players inventories might roll back a bit, like 5 minutes at most
